My son found this fancy looking Skeletor image on the internet and wanted to make something similar out of wood for his girlfriend. We simplified and laid out the shapes on thr computer and then started cutting and painting. He did most of the work, except for some tricky scrollsaw bits, and was very happy with how it turned out.

Custom Plastic Icosahedron
I got a request to build a lightweight icosahedron that was sturdy enough it could be thrown around for a family game. I decided to make a hollow one out of corrugated plastic, screwed to an internal frame. I think if i had to build another, i would just use foamboard and serious glue to completely leave out the screws.
Inktober – Peanut Monsieur
This day of Inktober brings me back to my Comical prompt. So… somehow I ended up uttering peanut butter in a french accent, which then made me think of “peanut monsieur” so that’s what I thought I’d doodle. Why I combined a beret, a curly mustache, mime makeup, cigarette, and sandals to portray this character, I can’t really say. I suppose it’s a little glimpse into my odd thought process.
Inktober – Dachshund
For day nine, I’m back on Biological for my prompt. Last week I posted a doodle of our kitten, so here’s a quick one of my in-laws dog Snickers.
Inktober – Corn Crib
Today’s inktober doodle for the architectural prompt is a corn crib. I was originally just going to draw a barn, but this kind of took it’s place in the process. I grew up on a farm with one pretty much like this.
Inktober – Volcano
My prompt for the seventh day of inktober is Geological, so I decided to doodle a volcano. For the rest of the month I will keep repeating these seven theme prompts, and see what different things I come up with.
Krita 3.3.0 – Rejoice!
I have been using Krita for probably the last year and have slowly been getting more comfortable moving away from MyPaint. I thought I was going to rely on this application even more so after I purchased a Surface Pro 3. There was a horrible problem though. When I bought my Surface Pro, the Krita version at the time did not support the n-trig based pen hardware, so I was forced to use the 32-bit version which still had some old compatibility built in. That version would often crash when I was editing large, complicated files, or when I was trying to work too fast with processor/memory heavy functions.
Well, last week they released version 3.3.0, and it’s got n-trig support baked into the 64-bit version! Having updated, it works like a dream, and at least one other annoying thing has been fixed.
I used to be able to draw with the front of the pen, then flip it over to the rear and it would automatically switch to an erasing brush. In most other applications, flipping the pen back to the front would automatically return you to your previous brush and keep drawing. This was not the case with the 32-bit 3.2.1 version, but it works perfectly in 3.3.0! I imagine there are other improvements that I haven’t found yet, but I’m ecstatic so far. If you’ve never tried Krita out, I would heartily recommend it, especially for Surface product owners who are looking for an open source illustrating application.
I also noticed that my “Stuff” page is super out of date, so I should be updating that soon.
P.S. I really would love to see a replay function like ProCreate.
Inktober – Tree Shore
Today, for day six of Inktober, my prompt is Floral. I thought I would doodle a tree, by the sea, which is a horrible rhyme.
Inktober – Dub You
My fifth prompt for inktober is Emotional, and I’ve been sitting on this pun for a couple of weeks. If you don’t get it, just ask your parents.
Inktober – Motorcycle Jump
For day four of Inktober my prompt is Drama. I was trying to think of something or someone dramatic, so I thought up this. The front wheel is supposed to be cranked over to the side, but I didn’t do it quite enough, so it just looks like I suck at spatial perspective. Which is probably true. Anywho, happy inking peoples.
