My youngest came home from school last week and said I needed to make him an Enderdragon costume for some school show. I talked him down to an Enderdragon head with a black t-shirt, and challenge accepted! I decided to build it all around an old bike helmet so he would have control of movement, instead of just a box sitting on his shoulders. My cardboard creation is documented below.

Cardboard Adventures
This weekend I spent a good chunk of time in the garage cutting up cardboard. Turns out my youngest had signed me up to create a camel costume and some throne set pieces for his school Christmas concert. I lost a lot of good cardboard this weekend out of the stockpile, but he should be squared away for his concert.
I also finally got to try out the platform/box I made to bring my tablesaw up to the same height as my (absurdly tall) workbench. Next thing to make is a sled…
October Collage – Pouty Princess
Newest monster is a pouty princess hiding in the back. You see, her dad was supposed to pick her up a princess bucket to match her dress, and totally got the wrong color… What a jerk, now she doesn’t even want any stupid candy.
October Collage – Wolverine
I knew eventually I’d be adding some superheroes and movie characters, so I thought ol’ Weapon-X would be the best one to start with. ‘Cause he’s got cool claws!
October Collage – Steve (Minecraft)
Most days as I doodle one of the boys is on the other computer in the office watching Minecraft videos, so I chose to add a Steve costume today. It might actually be fun to make one for real…?
October Collage – Scarecrow
Thought it was time to throw a scarecrow into the mix, but this kid’s probably too old to enjoy candy snatching. He doesn’t even have a bag…
October Collage – Vampire
Latest monster, a sharply dressed vampire in a tuxedo tshirt…
October Collage – Ghost
Third monster is a little girl ghost. I rocked a lot of homemade costumes as a kind, and I’m pretty sure I have a pink-dotted-sheet ghost costume memory that’s repressed and trying to surface.
October Collage – Pirate
Second monster, a pirate! Our boys have had a lot of these super thin costumes and they always get really cold.
October Collage – Mummy
I’ve been seeing all the awesome inktober art that people have been posting lately and wanted to do something themed this month. So I decided to start a gaggle of little monsters out for candy. I’ll just keep adding characters as the month goes on.
