Stained Glass Cross Finished

Stained Glass Cross

Stained Glass Cross

This is how the final cross came out, now to see what it looks like on the screen at church.

I took my original doodle from the sketchbook into Inkscape and created a vector to color all the individual panes.  Then I took a few of those layers over to The GIMP for final compositing, lighting, and texture.

Another church bulletin doodle that has been in the sketchbook for a few weeks.  I tried to draw a cuter version of Splinter and the Can Opener.

Socialist Cat

Socialist Cat

This was a doodle from the Iowa caucus night.  Either the school system or I did a poor job of explaining socialism to our kids because they concluded that our cat was a socialist because she demands food from us for just being in the family.

Sheriff Woody of Star Command

Sheriff Woody of Star Command

I think it was last week one of the sketch_dailies topics was Woody from ToyStory.  One of the submissions had him with Buzz’s Leg and an arm, so I thought I’d try to fully combine the two characters into a space sheriff.  “To the waterhole, and beyond!”

Stained Glass Cross

Stained Glass Cross

I have not been doing a very good job of posting lately, so I have a bunch of my Sunday bulletin doodles piled up in the sketchbook.  This was my attempt to start working on a faux stained glass wallpaper for our church’s projection screen.  Our old chapel had an amazing stained glass window above the baptistry, right in the center of the back wall.  Our new building is lacking a little of this character so I’m gonna see if I can change that.

I pulled this sketch into Inkscape where I cleaned it up and then separated all the individual panes.  Now for some coloring and photo lighting effects.

Mini Frame

Mini frame

Today I made a little 4″ frame with a quote from a family member’s Eeyore statue.  It’s funny that this little thing took a whole lot of different tools to make and caused quite the mess in the process.  Table saw, router table, miter saw, sander, clamps, glue, compressor, nail gun, glass cutter…  Turned out cute though.  Here’s a couple less tiny frames I made for Christmas this year.
