Cloud Spotting

A few days ago, my wife and I were out for an evening walk and came upon a distinctive cloud.  I immediately reported that it looked like a Narwhal with a Disney Gummi Bear riding it.  She said she could see what I was talking about, but she was probably just being nice to me.  I felt compelled to take a picture and try drawing what I saw, which is below.  I’ll consider this a glimpse into how my brain works.

I also made a little GIF of the steps between the two.  Doodled in Krita on my Surface Go 2.

Mandalorian – Take your kid to work

Take your kid to work day!

Greetings internet! I haven’t posted in a good long while because I decided to go back to school (while still working full-time) and have been devoting almost all my non-family time to that. I do have a list of projects and doodles I’ve snuck in along the way that I’ll get around to posting at some point, but not today.

Yesterday season 2 of “The Mandalorian” came out on Disney plus and the first episode was a great return to this awesome show. I had draw this little “Take your kid to work” gag a few days ago, so I thought I would post it. Hopefully I might get it colored in the next few days and can post that too.

Stay safe out there everyone! It doesn’t seem like we are collectively doing very well at listening to each other, or being considerate and compassionate towards others these days. I hope that is a trend we as a whole people can start changing for the better.

Surfing Stitch – Colored

Stitch

The next Inktober drawing I really wanted to color was this Stitch.  Maybe I’ll expand this drawing with more characters some day.

Colored in Krita on my Surface Pro 3.

Inktober – Chris Sanders

Inktober 2019-31 Chris Sanders

This is the last day of Inktober, I can’t believe how fast that went.  For the last artist I wanted to honor, I picked Chris Sanders who you might know from films like “Lilo and Stitch”, “How to Train Your Dragon”, or “The Croods.”  No more doodling, time to hit the beach.

I was in a meeting when I was thinking up the pose for this doodle, and ended up scribbling a bunch of different thumbnails before I drew the final piece.

Colored Inktober – Old Man McGucket

Fiddleford McGucket Colored

The next of this year’s Inktober doodles I wanted to color was Old Man McGucket from Gravity Falls.  I didn’t want to spend too much time on the background, but I probably should have…

Ralph Breaks the Internet

Ralph Broke the Internet

We went to see “Ralph Breaks the Internet” on Friday and loved it!  I need to rewatch it a few thousand times to find all the cool things hidden in the games and the Internet scenes.

Inktober – Lil Bulb

    Inktober 20 – Lil Bulb – full

Inktober day 20

The last Ducktales character is Lil Bulb.  In the original series, I remember him being a cute little guy helping Gyro around the lab.  In the reboot, since all of Gyro’s inventions seem to become evil, this little guy shows some much more entertaining behavior.

I’m not very happy with how this doodle came out, and all efforts to try improving the glow aspect of the lightbulb seemed to make it worse.

Inktober – Gizmoduck

Inktober 19 – Gizmoduck – full

Inktober day 19

For today, I wanted to draw Gizmoduck, one of my favorite heroic characters growing up.  He certainly looks much more powerful in this reboot than the old style.

Inktober – Fenton Crackshell

Inktober 18 – Fenton Crackshell – full

Inktober day 18

The next show I wanted to draw a few characters from is the reboot of Ducktales on Disney.  First up is Fenton Crackshell, the goofy accountant who just wants to do a good job.  Here he seems like he needs to run off unexpectedly for some important business.

Eeyore with Scarf

Eeyore Scarf

My awesome mother-in-law has been working for sometime now to thoughtfully knit scarves that would be given to people receiving various treatments at her local hospital.  Her spirit animal is Eeyore, so I doodled up a version of him that would show up well at about a nickel size, and made some tags for her on my cutter.  The pose was heavily influenced by one I saw online, but I redrew the whole thing from scratch to clean it up and added the scarf.  Hopefully the little guy, the message of the tags, and the knowledge that someone is wishing the patients well will bring some joy to their hearts and speed along their healing.

Drawn in Krita, process GIF done in GIMP.
