Inking a War Pug

This a clean-up of a doodle from some time back.  All the captured work was done in MyPaint in Linux.

Paper Doodle Finished

vonholdt paper doodle

Behold, my paper doodle!!! (well it’s probably not that cool, but I’m impressed with it anyway)  I’ve been thinking of doing something like this for awhile now, just never got around to it.  I have a bunch of flat boxes left over from our move, and wanted to do something similar of our new house with those, but that’s a much bigger project.  I got the itch to try this with paper after coming across Brittney Lee’s amazing blog.  It’s almost painfully awesome.  I’ve posted some WIP pictures below, but essentially the workflow was as follows:

  • figure out what size/frame i’d be using.
  • build all the cut outs as separate layers in inkscape
  • doing some textured color on the cut outs in gimp, plus add a slight outline to define all the cuts
  • cut, glue, trim, tape down, fidget forever to get it centered just right… enjoy

xacto torment

most of them cut

done, need to glue and trim
