I’ve built quite a few catapults and ballistas with LEGO before, but this is the first trebuchet. I think it came out nicely. The boys and I will have lots of fun playing with it this weekend.
This shows how many heavy steel balls I had to use for weight (16) to throw a single marble. It seemed the ideal combo. Lighter shot got flung almost directly into the floor, and heavier shot (like another steal ball) ended up travelling nearly vertical. Old LEGO technic tire rims fired nicely too.
Since I’m posting LEGO stuff, here’s an awesome castle my oldest built and the ensuing battle for it’s control.
